Government trying to crush me: Chiru

Government trying to crush me: Chiru

NAIDUPET: Afraid of his growing popularity, the State Government was trying to crush him in undemocratic ways, but it could not stop him from surging ahead, said Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) president Chiranjeevi.
As part of his Praja Ankita Sabhas, Chiranjeevi launched his third leg of the programme from Sullurupet in Nellore district. He was received by the district leaders near Tada on the border of Tamil Nadu. He offered prayers at Chengalamma Temple near Sullurupet.
Later, he held a road show in Naidupet as the district police denied him permission to hold a public meeting. However, he went on to address Sabhas at Venkatagiri and Gudur.
In a vitriolic attack on the Government, the film actor said right from the launching of his party from Tirupati, the Government had been creating hurdles at each stage to block him from going to the people. At Tirupati, the Government had tried to deny permission to him to hold public meeting in the guise of environmental problems, he alleged.
When the party launched road shows, the Government tried to stop them, the PRP president claimed. Although the court had given permission to hold road shows, the police imposed stringent restrictions, he stated.
‘’How could one hold road shows without waving hands and speaking? The Government has tied my hands. I have to simply stand like a statue on the vehicle,’’ Chiranjeevi said.
He recalled the attacks of the Congress on his party leaders at Pulivendula and said the brave people of the town made the show a grand one. The day before the road show in Pulivendula, they manhandled the workers and threatened the party’s woman leader, Chiranjeevi alleged.
It is the right of the people to hear their leaders for every five years on the occasion of elections, the PRP president said. By denying the opportunity to go to the people, the Government was violating the democratic principles, he alleged.
Despite the obstacles, with the support of fans and followers, he said he would achieve the goal. The Government was piling up cases on him, but he would not be cowed down by that, Chiranjeevi declared. The actions of the Government were nothing but those of a coward, he said. ‘’What crime had Pawan Kalyan committed? You all have seen how the Chief Minister and the Opposition leaders level charges against each other in the Assembly.
They called each other an animal. What Pawan had said was nothing more than that, he said and felt sorry that for using his right to freedom of expression, the Congress Party leaders attacked his party office.
Rebutting the criticism that he was making money out of selling blood through his blood bank, he said he would never stoop to that level.
The Telugu Desam and the Congress Governments in the past had said his blood was the best, said Chiranjeevi. Chiranjeevi alleged that the establishment of Special Economic Zones (SEZs)in the State had started from Nellore district. In the Apache SEZ, the workers were denied their rights and were being exploited, he pointed out. He recalled his relation with the district and said his mother was born in this area. He stated that the Molakolukulu Rice which was being cultivated in the district, was dear to his heart.
The road show of Chiranjeevi in Naidupeta received tremendous response from the people of the town. They showered flowers on him and followed him till he left the town.

Why Chiru prefer Tirupati?

Chiranjeevi, Praja Rajyam
Why is Chiru preferring only Tirupati?

It is more or less certain that megastar and Praja Rajyam party president Chiranjeevi is all set to contest the next Assembly elections from Tirupati.
But the moot question is why Chiranjeevi has chosen Tirupati to contest. As a matter of fact, Chiranjeevi can win the elections from anywhere in the State, because he has a charisma and there is no doubt even among the rival political parties.
However, different reasons are being attributed to his decision to choose only Tirupati. First, he is of the view that there is a huge fan following for him in the temple town, as was evident from the fact that all his films had been a mega hit here; irrespective of the fact that some films did not do well in other centres. Therefore, sentimentally, he feels that his party would also be a big hit in Tirupati.
Secondly, after the roaring success of his first-ever public meeting in Tirupati, Chiranjeevi has become sentimentally attached to this area and is confident that the people would vote for him in a big way. And thirdly and most importantly, Tirupati constituency has been a traditional bastion of Kapus and majority of the previous MLAs represented this community. It also has a sizeable number of BCs and SCs and that would also help him gain the popular support. Present incharge of Praja Rajyam Party in Tirupati N V Prasad, who unsuccessfully contested on Telugu Desam ticket, is also a Kapu and is working overtime for establishment of the party in the constituency.
Finally, Chiru's presence in Tirupati would strengthen the party's prospects in rest of Rayalaseema and also in neighbouring Nellore district, where he is getting tremendous response from people to his public meetings right now.

Congress suppressing Praja Rajyam, says Chiranjeevi

Congress suppressing Praja Rajyam, says Chiranjeevi

SULLURIPETA (NELLORE DIST): Praja Rajyam president K.Chiranjeevi has accused the ruling Congress of trying to suppress his party and create hurdles as it panicked over the huge response from the people.

Addressing a series of public meetings during his maiden visit to Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district after launching the party, he said, “They (Congress) might have muscle power, but I have the support of the public and none can stop Chiranjeevi from coming to people.” Trying to strike a sentimental chord, he said that he had close association with Nellore and recalled the childhood days he spent at his grandmother’s house in the district. Mr. Chiranjeevi, who addressed public meetings at Sulluripeta, Venkatagiri and Gudur towns, charged the ruling Congress party with creating hurdles for the party’s activities right from the first meeting held at Avilala in Chittoor district. “The harassment is continuing till today.”

Launching a scathing attack on both the Congress and Telugu Desam, he said the government was taking away valuable lands in the name of setting up Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and providing jobs.

It was deceiving farmers and the poor, while there was no progress on SEZs. He alleged that both the parties had resorted to corruption in the State and shared the spoils. Now, Congress and TDP are trying their best to prevent others from entering politics. “Those who try to suppress Praja Rajyam will be wiped out in the coming elections,” he said and urged the people to teach both the parties a lesson.
Defends Pawan

Reacting to the statements of some political leaders on Pawan Kalyan’s comments, Mr. Chiranjeevi said: “What is wrong in my brother’s comments?

The vulgar behaviour and the fighting seen in Assembly are highly objectionable. Pawan spoke about some corrupt Congress leaders and there is no need to find fault with him.” The actor asked the people to give Praja Rajyam one opportunity by voting for it in the elections.

Regarding the allegations on his blood bank by some leaders, he quipped, “What were they doing for the past few years? The same leaders appreciated me saying that I was doing service to the needy poor.”

Earlier, he performed special pujas in Chengalamma temple at Sulluripet and Hanuman temple in Tada mandal and garlanded the statue of Ambedkar at Naidupeta in the district.

Party official spokesman P. Mitra, district in-charge Kamineni Srinivas, convenor Bommireddy Srinivas, joint convenor Vanki Penchalaiah and others participated.

Happy New Year 2009

Two TDP legislators join Chiranjeevi

Even as the film star turned politician Chiranjeevi [Images] was worried over getting an electoral symbol allotted by the Election Commission, his Praja Rajyam party got a shot in the arm on Thursday with two legislators of Telugu Desam party including the party general secretary joining the PRP.

The TDP general secretary and legislator from Srikakulam district Kala Venkat Rao and another legislator from the same district Kambala Jogulu today announced their resignation from the state legislative assembly as well as the primary membership of the TDP.

They along with hundreds of their supporters formally joined the Praja Rajyam party in Srikakulam district with PRP President Chiranjeevi welcoming them at a tele conference.

All these leaders have held the TDP Parliamentary Party leader K Yerran Naidu for their move to quit the TDP. They alleged that Yerran Naidu had tried to undermine their position in the party and among the masses.

"The TDP has now become a party with out leaders or workers in Srikakulam district", said Kala Venkat Rao. Showering praise on Chiranjeevi as a leader who brought a new promise in to politics, Venkat Rao said that Praja Rajyam will do justice to the weaker sections and the backward classes. "Chiranjeevi is like a blank paper", he said.

Chirajeevi's worry is caused by the fact that at present PRP is only a registered party and not a recognized political party. Any new party becomes a recognized party and gets an election symbol on the basis of the votes it gets in the first elections it contests. As PRP is yet to contest any election, Election Commission is not bound to allot it a common symbol to contest the next elections.

The PRP is anxious that lack of an election symbol can affect its chances in the elections due in four months time. If the party is not allotted an election symbol of its own, PRP's candidates will be technically treated as independents and they will be asked to chose one from the free symbols.

It will entail in a confusing situation because party's Lok Sabha and assembly candidates in the same constituency will get separate symbols further confusing the voters and the party will not be able to carry out a massive campaign with one symbol.

However party sources said that in case the Election Commission does not allot them a common election symbol they will follow the example of Telangana Rashtra Samiti and approach the court to seek allotment of an election symbol. The TRS was allotted Car symbol in its very first election in 2004.
